How do I clean my fire bowl and grill plates?

The optimal cleaning and care of your fire bowl for long-lasting pleasure!

A fire bowl in the garden or on the terrace is not only a functional part for cosy hours by the fire, but also an aesthetic highlight. To ensure that you can enjoy your fire bowl for a long time and that it always stays in top shape, regular cleaning and care is essential. Here you can find out everything you need to know to properly clean and care for your fire bowl.

4.4.1 Cleaning the fire bowl

Cool

Before you start cleaning, let the fire bowl cool completely. Cleaning in hot temperatures can not only be dangerous, but can also lead to damage.

Remove accessories

First, remove all accessories such as grill plates and the middle ring. These can be easily removed from the fire bowl by lifting them to clean them separately.

Rough cleaning

For rough cleaning, remove ash, residual wood and coarse dirt with an ash shovel or sweeping kit. Make sure that all large residues are removed before you start the fine cleaning.

Fine cleaning

If ash dust has gotten into the spaces between the fire bowl, you can rinse it out with a water hose if necessary or remove it by removing the intermediate floor. This ensures that no residue interferes with the function of the fire bowl.

4.4.2 Cleaning the grill plates

The grill plates of your stainless steel fire bowl should be cleaned regularly to ensure optimal functionality and hygiene. Here are two effective methods:

Variant 1: Cold plates

  1. Scrape off coarse grill residue with a grill spatula.
  2. Spray the grill plates generously with a grease-dissolving detergent and leave it on for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Rinse the grill plates thoroughly with water and a sponge. Steel wool can also be used for stubborn soiling.

Variant 2: Warm plates

  1. After grilling, use the residual heat from the plates for cleaning.
  2. Scrape off coarse grill residue with a grill spatula.
  3. Carefully pour water onto the still warm plates. The temperature shock removes remaining residues. Pay attention to the vapor development and act carefully.
  4. Spray the cooled grill plates with a grease-dissolving detergent and let it sit for at least 15 minutes.
  5. Finally, rinse the grill plates thoroughly with water and a sponge. In the case of stubborn soiling, the use of steel wool is also possible here.

4.4.3 Discoloration of stainless steel

With stainless steel, it is normal for the material to show discoloration when exposed to heat. These tempering discolorations are irreversible and cannot be prevented. Even after cleaning, burnt-on residues can remain visible, which is due to the natural property of stainless steel.

By regularly cleaning and caring for it after each use, you can ensure that your fire bowl not only remains visually appealing, but also significantly extends its function and lifespan. Invest a little time in care - your fire bowl will thank you with many cozy hours by the fire!
